Archives For fashion blogger

fulledit2reduxHello, everyone! I’m sorry I missed you yesterday, but now I have clear sinuses, un-puffy eyes, and a new haircut, and I’m ready to rock it! I brought back an old favorite for today’s outfit – my much loved poppy circle skirt (Psst! It’s on sale!). I always use it as an excuse not to match. This time I paired it with a turquoise top and a necklace that has absolutely none of the same colors as the skirt. When nothing matches, it all matches, right?

This morning really felt like the beginning of fall, which I hope marks some new beginnings in my life. I thought I would be bored out of my mind being an unemployed person (hopefully only temporarily), but I’ve been busier than ever putting together new opportunities for this blog, looking for a new job, and, of course, a lot of dancing. I don’t know if in the near future I’ll be gainfully employed, working for myself, or a little bit of both, but I’m excited to see where it all goes!

As readers, I do want to formally let you all know that I’ve recently added affiliate banners and links to my sidebar and within my posts. I assure you I wouldn’t align myself with any company or store that I wouldn’t shop at myself, and all the clothes and products I wear and display or any collaboration I may do in the future are all of my choosing as they always have been. As much as I want this blog to provide me with some income, I also want to make you all aware of brands and retailers you might not already be familiar with so you know all the options you have for your wardrobe. You’ll still see many pieces of clothing and accessories from merchants with which I have no affiliation that I just happen to dig, and I hope you all do, too. I also hope that you all stick with me through this even if you never click on an affiliate link because from the beginning I’ve wanted this blog to be a resource for those of us who feel limited as to where we can shop.

Thanks as always for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow with outfit #15! Woohoo! Almost halfway there!

DSC_0494_FotordancereduxMaybe if I do a little dance, autumn will get here sooner. That’s how it works, right? Well, I can at least wear what I call my “hurry up fall” outfit. So far it hasn’t worked. Exhibit A:

916foggyclose_FotorreduxThat’s not some fancy filter I added in post-production; that’s straight up humidity on my lens. Don’t even get me started about what happens when I wear my glasses! I do like the Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds commercial effect. It’s somewhat flattering, don’t you think? No?

DSC_0418_FotorclosenofoxeditreduxThat’s better–loud and clear! What I really want to prove with this outfit is pin up style can still work as the temperatures cool off and even when you choose pants instead of skirts. Now, I’m not what you would call a retro purist. While I love polka dots and circle skirts, my jam is adding modern touches to those styles. Besides, my hair game won’t allow for beehives and victory rolls (which would be so much fun to learn how to do, but that’s another blog post).

DSC_0476_FotorwideshotreduxThese teal pants were a great find. Because I’m on the larger side plus sizes, I sometimes feel like I have to pick boring clothes for my bottom half due to the lack of variety on that end of the spectrum. Heck, many plus size retailers usually stop before they get to my size. It bums me out when I see cute clothes at certain places only going up to size 24. That why these pants were a wonderful surprise. You never know what you can find if you look a little bit harder!

DSC_0430_FotorshoeseditreduxI bought these shoes last fall, and they were totally neglected. I’m so glad I found a special outfit for them this year. Oh, and they’re still available and on sale!

How are you all starting to incorporate fall pieces into your wardrobe? Tell me all about it in the comments!

Thanks for wandering over to my little area of the interwebs. Until next time, stay cool!

imwalkingherereduxI rarely wear heels in public. You know the saying, “practice makes perfect?” Well, I haven’t practiced wearing them very much mainly because with EE width feet, it’s difficult to find pairs of heels that are cute, comfortable, and will allow me to stay balanced while walking. I do wear heels occasionally for pictures on flat surfaces, but gravel is another story. For every picture like the one above, there’s one like this:

likewhoareduxThat was a close one! I did manage to stay on my feet, so no worries. Also, I’m beginning to embrace the rusty farm equipment near my house. It creates a nice atmosphere, don’t ya think?

mediumreduxMy dress is by Hell Bunny. I always giggle when I look the brand up online because auto-correct wants to change it to “He’ll Bunny.” Personally, I would go with “Heck Bunny,” but that’s just me. I’ve seen Hell Bunny dresses many places from Modcloth to Hot Topic; however, this one is from Gwynnie Bee. Full disclosure, the dress is not in perfect condition. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the first GB subscriber to wear it as the polka dots are slightly faded and there are imperfections on the print in inconspicuous places. I know many of you ladies shop at thrift stores, so I looked at the dress from that point of view, and I decided it was a keeper!

In the spirit of walking on loose gravel in heels–what fashion risks have you taken recently? Thanks for stopping by and helping me find my balance!

Hi, there! Today I decided to keep my Friday feature short and sweet by introducing you to a favorite blogger of mine. Angela, also known as the Passionista, is an Ohio-based, Vespa-riding fashion student. She showcases cute casual and dressy outfits as well as practical beauty tips–like how does one stylishly deal with “helmet hair.” Her last post even has a cool t-shirt DIY that I’m definitely going to have to try! We’ve become blogging buddies through Instagram, and I’ve had a great time getting to know her and seeing all the wonderful outfits she puts together.

You can see all of Angela’s adventures here at The Passionista, and check out my guest post there starting next Monday!

I didn’t get a lot of good full-outfit photos of this dress mainly because my bra strap kept making an appearance. If you’re good at Where’s Waldo?, you may even spot it a few times…

I got these shoes from Torrid a few years ago. I haven’t worn them much, but they’re so cute that I can’t part with them. Maybe they were waiting for this dress…

This Lane Bryant dress was one of my first attempts of wearing white, and I love the summery look! Also, another Where’s Waldo challenge–can you spot the farm equipment in the background? See ya next time!
