Archives For novelty print

DSC_1102one_FotoreditreduxHello, fashionable friends! Thanks for joining me again. Today, I’m wearing another retro-fabulous frock from ModCloth. The triangle print looks like a happy quilt, and I love that it has a homemade vibe. The dress even arrived smelling like a fabric store, and can’t we agree that’s a lovely scent? They should bottle that up! Anyway, this dress is from their Bea & Dot line which is always super cute. It’s also, at the time of this post, it’s on sale for 50% off! I did have the reoccurring issue of the dress being too large in the bust and in the straps, but I solved that issue with strategic safety-pinning, much like I did for this Bea & Dot dress from an earlier post, and the cardigan doesn’t hurt either. Once I’ve crossed the style challenge finish line, I plan to make a tutorial of no-sew ways to deal with clothes that don’t quite fit, so stay tuned!

DSC_1118three_FotoreditreduxOnce again, I’m wearing my Dahlia crinoline skirt from eShakti as a petticoat. I’ve worn it this way on day one of the challenge, and here I am wearing it as a skirt. I’m so glad it is available again. They also had it in a pretty bright red, but it mysteriously disappeared from their site. I never get too disheartened when something leaves eShakti because they have a tendency to bring items back. As you can see, I let the crinoline peak out from under the dress because I like the contrast with the dress’ fabric; however, I know many of you like to keep your petticoats out of sight. At eShakti, you can get the skirt customized to be shorter–or longer. This is all I own in the way of a petticoat, but I’ve been investigating my options on eBay where I’ve seen this one that looks promising. I’m waiting to see if they go lower in price.

Thanks to those of you who shared your boot-shopping tips in the comments of my last post. Now, what do you all know about plus size petticoats? Thank you all for helping me to stay stylish. I learn from the best!
